David Scanlon sprucing up the Mountain Lake Hut, summer of 2003.

This hut has seen a tremendous increase in usage, after many years of disuse, thanks largely to the efforts of David and many helpers!

Huts and Shelters

The BCMC has built 5 huts in the Coast Mountains of B.C.  Two of these, in Garibaldi Park, have been donated to B.C. Parks. The remaining 3 are:

MOUNTAIN LAKE HUT - Mount Sheer, Brittania Beach
NORTH CREEK HUT - North Creek, Lillooet Valley
PLUMMER HUT - Claw Ridge, Mt. Waddington

User charges of $10 per person per night for the Plummer Memorial Hut, North Creek Hut and Mountain Lake Hut are requested from non-members and are applied towards cabin maintenance.  Club members have free use of these huts.  BCMC parties and BCMC members have priority use of these huts.  The key for the North Creek Hut can be obtained from the BCMC cabin chair.

Payments shall be sent to:
British Columbia Mountaineering Club
PO Box 2674
Vancouver BC V6B 3W8

Online Payment:  Alternately, payments may be made online for use of these huts, using PayPal.  PayPal enables you to pay with your credit card, or PayPal account, if you have one.  Click on the button below, then, for the quantity, enter the number of nights multiplied by the number of people staying (i.e. 3 people for 2 night = pay for 6 nights)

Note:  New Online Hut Booking System

The BCMC is implementing a new system to permit and, in fact, encourage online booking of the club's huts.

As always, BCMC trips and BCMC members will have priority in booking the cabins.  Use of the cabins remains free to members.  The goal of this system is to prevent conflicts between multiple large parties converging upon the huts at once.

We encourage members to pass along any ideas and suggestions for the development of this system, and feedback about its implementation.  Email us or talk to any executive member at the monthly club socials.
