As opposed to the 21 routes in that guide and the 140 in the 1975 edition, this guide contains about 280 routes. To some degree it is a hybrid, in that it uses both written descriptions and topos; hopefully this is an effective compromise. Without doubt this book will be obsolete when published; the task of future editors will be much eased if innovators report their new routes to the Canadian Alpine Journal. It is hoped that supplements will appear on a biannual basis until the next edition is published.
