Browse News By Period: 2024 RSS2024-05-27T20:51:00+0000 There are some club members who will remember Brendan Moss.  Bren died in late April 2024, a month short of his 93rd birthday.  He joined the BCMC in about 1966 and served as President from 1968 to 1970.  I first met him at the BCMC summer camp in Lake Ohara in 1960, and I liked his good sense of humour and tolerance of very, very young members.   In later years, he had a shop in Gastown, where he sold mountaineering books, prints and map; it was always enjoyable to visit him.  He was part of a party that made the first ascent of Mount Harrison in the southern Rockies in 1964, and he was part of a strong party that did one of the earliest rock climbs at Squamish in 1958.  There is an obituary by his daughter at https://vancouversunandprovince.remembering.ca/obituary/brendan-moss-1089765732  ...
