Trip Description

Location changed to Gibson's Pass, Manning Park.  Location Needle Peak Coquihalla (departing evening of the Friday, approx 5:30pm from Lower Mainland)

  • This training will take you through the stages of avalanche rescue: Self Rescue, Companion Rescue, and Organized Avalanche Response.  This brings together all of the skills of transceiver use, team management, leadership, hazard evaluation and more.
  • Ski/Snowshoe in Friday evening and set up camp.  Sat 8am till 4:30 and Sun 8am - 3pm training.  Return to Vancouver by approx 8pm Sun evening.

MINIMUM OF 12 PARTICIPANTS REQUIRED TO PROCEED.  Please only sign up if you are 100% committed to attending. 

Minimum Equipment:

  • Probe
  • Shovel
  • Transceiver
  • Skis or snowshoes
  • Appropriate winter camping equipment and clothing

Training Prerequisite:

  • Transceiver Skills Practice session or demonstrated strong transceiver skills (1 beacon in 2 minutes, 2 beacons in 4 minutes).  This is not a session where you will learn to use your beacon, you must come prepared.
