Some of the world’s best backcountry touring terrain can be found within a three hours’ drive of Vancouver. Join us for a fun evening of learning how to explore the local mountains on a split board or skis, with Stanley Park brews and snacks from Be Fresh Local. Volunteers from the BCMC will share their knowledge and experience to help you get started on your own adventures.

Anyone who is interested in learning about backcountry touring is welcome to attend!

Priority will be given to participants in Introduction to Backcountry Skiing (January 12, January 19, or February 2) and Introduction to Split Boarding (January 20), but anyone who is interested in learning about backcountry touring is welcome to attend!

Topics will include:

• route planning

• route finding

• gear

• group dynamics and decision making

• emergency situations
