Some of the world’s best backcountry touring terrain can be found within a three hours’ drive of Vancouver. Join us and our partners Arc’teryx and Protect our Winters (POW) for a fun evening of learning how to explore the local mountains on a split board or skis. Volunteers from the BCMC will share their knowledge and experience to help you get started on your own adventures.

Anyone who is interested in learning about backcountry touring is welcome to attend!

Priority will be given to participants in the Introduction to Backcountry Skiing and Introduction to Split Boarding trips, but anyone who is interested in learning about backcountry touring is welcome to attend!

Topics will include:

  • The anatomy of a backcountry day
  • Preparing for a day in the backcountry
  • What to wear
  • What to pack
  • A talk from a Search and Rescue member

An informal Q&A with backcountry skiers and snowboarders where you can ask all your questions.
