Me: I'll be in the tail end of a camping trip, driving west from Calgary, where I can pick you up on Aug 1st if you fly in. I have two full days (Aug 2-3) to climb in the Canmore or Kananaskis area, where I have a campsite booked. I'll drive back to Vancouver on Aug 4th, but could potentially extend this trip for an extra day if desired. You: Able to fly one-way to Calgary (or drive) and climb for two or more days. If you fly in, you can get a ride with me back to Vancouver.
Who and what: We'll be up to 4 climbers and will discuss in advance what to do in the area based on experience, skills and goals. There are obviously tons of options, both sport and trad, short and long routes of all levels - these are the Canadian rockies after all. I'm happy with 5.7-10a routes, but can belay others on eventual harder ones.
Flight: Right now a flight to Calgary on Aug 1st is around ~$160 with a carry-on (cheaper than driving). When I drive east (on Jul 24) I may have room in the car for some of your camping gear, if that helps.
Camping: I booked a site from Aug 1 to 4 at the beautiful Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, about 45 min south of Canmore. If we stay a bit longer we'll book another site in the region. I'll have a stove and kitchenware everyone can share.
Plan B: In case significant rain or forest fires in the area prevent us from climbing, we'll head to Revelstoke if conditions there are better. We can also go hiking - this is a group decision.
Costs: We'll all chip in for gas, camping and park permits if needed - the usual.
