Trip Description

Come climb Grouse your way!

This is a casual, all-levels weekly ascent. Whether you're chasing a PB, training for bigger objectives, working toward your first Grouse ascent, or just want some company on the mountain — you're welcome.

All fitness and experience levels are invited. No judgment and no minimum pace.

We'll meet at the Grouse Grind trailhead and start together. Choose a route appropriate for your experience and the conditions:

Grouse Grind – The classic. Stairs, stairs and more stairs.

BCMC – A quieter and more traditional hiking trail with roots, rocks and rougher footing.

Flint & Feather – Steep, rugged and less travelled, with route-finding and scrambling. For experienced hikers and appropriate conditions only.

Taint – A steep, unmaintained alternative branching from the BCMC with scrambling and some exposure. Experienced hikers only and conditions permitting.

Trip grade is based on the Grind/BCMC options. Flint & Feather and Taint are optional, more technical routes requiring appropriate experience.

Your pace, your climb. Some people may be chasing a fast time while others take their time. We aren't trying to keep everyone in one tight pack — we'll regroup at the chalet afterward.

First time or don't want to hike alone? That's completely fine. If you're new to Grouse, uneasy about going at your own pace, or would simply feel more comfortable having someone stay with you, send me a message before the trip and let me know. I'm happy to arrange to stick together. Nobody should feel like they need to be fast to join.

At the top: We'll regroup at the chalet. Stick around for a drink and a chat if you have time.

Getting down: Take the Skyride or descend via the BCMC. Please choose an option appropriate for your experience, conditions and daylight.

Bring: Water, appropriate footwear and layers for the conditions. As the evenings get shorter, bring a headlamp.
