Explore an area of Garibaldi Park that sees few visitors. This will be a trip with some long days, glacier travel and likely some quite steep snow. Please be experienced with winter camping conditions and crevasse rescue. We will likely rope up for a good portion of the glacier travel
Tentative itinerary:
Day 1 (Friday) - Drive to Wedgemount trail head, climb up the trail to the lake and continue over the Wedge Weart col to camp on the Needles glacier at the Peggy-Eureka Col area. We will set up a bit of a base camp here. ~12km 1900m EG Day 2 (Saturday) - Day trip to Mount Neal. Possibly explore a bit further onto the Carter Glacier depending on group energy and conditions. Day 3 (Sunday) - Eureka and either Peggy or Oasis. It looks like the route from Eureka to Oasis should go but I can't find any past reports so we can discuss as a group how we are feeling and if we're keen to give it a go. Day 4 (Monday) - Pack up and return to the vehicles
You will need:
Camping setup sufficient to camp on the glacier at 2300m Crampons, ice axe Snowshoes Harness Crevasse Rescue kit Belay/Rappel device Tasty treats to share
We can refine all of this over the next few months and very likely adjust based on weather and conditions. This is the best reference trip report I've found: https://stevensong.com/coastal-interior-bc/sea-to-sky/mount-neal/
