The Olympic Peninsula is a landscape of dense rainforests, rugged beaches, and soaring glaciated peaks. Let's try to climb the highest one, Mount Olympus. This is an iconic peak, requiring a big approach (25+ km one way with 1400m gain), crossing heavily glaciated terrain, and some climbing moves to reach the top. What fun!
I have a permit for 8 people. It is a bit later in the season than I'd have liked, but we'll keep an eye on how conditions develop. People have had success in this time frame in previous years.
Participants will need all the usual summer mountaineering gear, plus ideally some trad climbing gear. This is a pretty advanced objective due to the long approach and severity of the terrain so please send me a note with your glacier and rock climbing experience when signing up.
