New Year's Eve at the Kees and Claire Hut (Russet Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park), with multiple teams.
We'll decide additional objectives based on conditions and teams.
Booking and payment
This is not a first-come, first-served trip. Teams are built based on skill level and whether you ski, snowboard, or snowshoe.
- Sign up on the event - this puts you on the waitlist.
- Everyone on the waitlist is screened.
- After screening, you will be asked to book your hut spot through the Spearhead Huts Society.

Gear
The hut sits in avalanche terrain, and both routes cross avalanche paths. Everyone carries a transceiver, probe, and shovel and knows how to use them. AST 1 is expected.
Everyone:
- Transceiver, probe, shovel
- Winter sleeping bag (the hut has mattresses, no bedding)
- Headlamp, spare batteries
- Food for your nights, plus lunches and snacks
- Warm layers, spare gloves.(hut has crocs)
Ski team: touring setup, skins, ski crampons if conditions call for them.
Snowshoe team: snowshoes with good traction, poles.
Each team will discuss the final gear check before the trip.
The hut has a lot of stuff, so aside from skiing and avalanche gear, you only need to bring a sleeping bag and food. It has everythign for cooking and a sleeping pad.
