Trip Description

Notes:
-I will very likely NOT be summitting. This is a check of my gear and fitness. very unlikely I can hack the vertical on saturday or sunday, as well I am not equipped for the late season snow: once I hit snow that becomes risky, I'm turning back.
-I will be at the gate pretty much when the park opens at 7am, sat morning. Do I need to be there that early? Probably not. Will it be busy? Probably not. Am I still going to be there? Yes. Why? Uh, reasons.
-It's gonna be cold. And a little wet. Spot and alpineconditions.com are forecasting 4-10 deg and light rain during this window. Be prepared. If others join, I will bring a large siltarp.
-Stats:
Hike in: West Canyon trail 6-8k, 4-500m. More after campset up dependent on vibes and legs and snow, for the golden ears summit trail.
Hike out, same stats, but may take east canyon out (small detour to viewpoint area / bridge)
Sunday adventure before hikeout dependent on vibes and legs
-You need to book a RESERVATION permit for alder, as they moved to reservations for most of the golden ears backcountry just today, may 14th. :( . Yes, it sucks, I know. I can help you do this. If you can't get a reservation, then this whole posting more or less becomes moot.

I chose screening only so we can make sure you get a reservation before hand and we can be sure you have warm enough gear.

I can offer (2) people a ride in my car (I live in mt pleasant area) to golden ears and back.

I'll make a whatsapp chat for ease of communication. I'm open to people signing up until, say, 7pm friday, so long as they immediately start communication with me to align for the next day.

SAFETY:
I'll have a garmin inreach and first aid kit, I expect participants to have their own basic first aid, and reliable warm layers for sleeping / backup.
I have no intention of doing any hiking in the dark. I have a headlamp and battery pack, but all hiking will be done in daylight hours.
I'll post my phone # to facilitate communications as this is quite last minute: 306 291 7656
