Hi Chris,
Get better soon!

Ah, maybe it has changed hands again. If I recall, the old(er) guy who had it for years retired or died and it was taken over by his daughter. I was in there last week to buy some shoelaces (I live...
My son had a pair of mountaineering boots repaired at Gold Star about a year ago, with excellent results. They aren't cheap.

Are fiction and poetry allowed? "All genres" suggests they are, but everything else suggests that submissions be based on real events.

This all seems like a good idea, given the number of bookings for WL cabin!
I've used Godstar with ok results. They aren't cheap, though. I don't know any alternatives.
Chris, thank you for this post: yes, slightly pessimistic, but I think the pessimism is called for. Can I share your post on my FaceBook page?
Glenn
Hi Chris,
I think it is best to leave it as is. VIMFF hasn't changed it on their site, although they know what's going on.

Sadly, Dick will not be there; he is in hospice care. I will be doing his part, and mine.
If it goes ok, I might do it at a BCMC social in the spring or fall.

Chris, thanks very much for posting this. It's often very difficult to figure this stuff out; logging company records are often not available, and Forest Service is often worse than useless.
For sale: Men's Mont Blanc GTX Mountaineering Boots. Men's size 9 (European 42). Excellent condition, just light wear from last season. These are great boots; I really like them, but they are just a...
With no disrespect whatever to Michael Feller, I agree that the Mountaineer needs a new look.
Are we talking about the e-news (which I haven't seen for a while), the monthly newsletter, or the annual/semi-annual volume?
You might want to post on FaceBook, in the Van Island climbing page. It's very active. In FaceBook, search for "Vancouver Island Climbing & Mountaineering" (without the quotation marks).
Good, comprehensive answer, Chris. Thank you!

Stas,
If you want to debate whether the club should build more cabins, that's great. This is an old issue and you might find considerable support for the idea that the mountains don't need more cabins...
Stas, I second Win's comments. I am not on the BOD (haven't been for some 30 years). I have not been to WSL and have no financial or personal interest in this hut.
How am I being selfish? All I'm ask...
Stan, can we move on from this? If you have any grounds for personal insinuations and attacks, please state them. Otherwise, let's keep things civil and move on. The process was flawed but legal, so...
The voter turnout was indeed low (56 out of 399 +/- VOTING members). That's 14%, about the same as some civic or provincial by-elections. Those elections are not declared invalid because of low turno...

The issue of whether or not the club should build cabins is an old, old one and goes back to before my time in the club (1959). There are good arguments on both sides, as there are about guidebooks....
