Trip Name: Flora Peak Day Hike – Relentless Incline & Panoramic Views Date: This Coming Sunday Difficulty: Class 1 / Hiking (Strenuous due to steepness and elevation gain) Distance: ~12 km round trip Elevation Gain: ~1,350 meters Time: ~6 hrs
Trip Description: Brisk day hike up to Flora Peak: a steep grind that will test your legs, but it rewards us with spectacular 360-degree views of Chilliwack Lake, Flora Lake, and the surrounding Cascade Mountains.
The trail consists of a steep 3.8 km forested grind, a more gradual 1.7 km stretch through the pass with opening vistas, and a final steep 0.8 km push to the summit. This trip is suited for individuals with strong cardio fitness who are comfortable with continuous, steep elevation gain and down-hiking that can be hard on the knees. I recommend a grin or 10 km run time consistently at or below 1 hour.
Schedule & Logistics:
5:45 a.m. – Meet at the Boundary Road Chevron (or earlier if downtown).
It is roughly a 2-hour drive to the trailhead.
7:30 a.m. – Arrive at the Lindeman/Flora Lake parking lot (Chilliwack Lake Road) and begin hiking. We want an early start to beat any trail traffic and secure parking.
Estimated Return: Expect to be back at the cars mid afternoon, returning to Vancouver before dinner time.
Thanks !
