Trip Description

Route Reference & Stats:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Logistics & Timeline:

  • 5:00 AM: Meetup and carpool organization at Coquitlam Central Station (Park & Ride).

  • 5:45 AM: Group convergence at the West Canyon Parking Lot (Trailhead). If you wish to meet at the trailhead.

  • 6:00 AM: Feet on trail. We will maintain a steady, moderate pace throughout the day to conserve energy for the upper ridge section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day-use Pass & Contingency Policy (Plan A / B / C): This park requires a vehicle day-use pass for summer weekend access. We will use a distributed strategy to secure passes via the BC Parks Reservation System.

⚠️ Crucial Booking Details: When reserving, you MUST select "West Canyon Trailhead Parking Lot - Parking" as the Pass Type and choose the "AM" time slot (7:00 AM – 1:00 PM). Do NOT book PM passes or other parking lots.

  • Plan A (Saturday, July 25): The entire team will attempt to book Saturday AM passes on Thursday at 7:00 AM sharp (or 6:59:59 AM). If we secure enough passes, we go on Saturday.

  • Plan B (Sunday, July 26): If we fail to get enough Saturday passes, we will automatically pivot to Sunday, and the whole team will attempt to book Sunday AM passes on Friday at 7:00 AM sharp.

  • Plan C (Postponement): If passes are still insufficient on Friday, this trip will be cancelled and rescheduled to August.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mandatory Gear (Summer Scramble Packing List): This is a long, exposed, high-endurance alpine route. You will bring:

  • Water filter/treatment system (No water between Alder Flats and Panorama Ridge, except active snowmelt streams)

  • 3L of water/electrolytes or adjust based on your needs

  • Sun protection (Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen for the exposed ridge)

  • Bug protection (Insect repellent/bug net)

  • Sturdy hiking boots or approach shoes with aggressive tread
