I have a permit for Shuksan this weekend and have had some people bail out so I'm posting it here last-minute to try to save the trip! I will be honest and say the conditions aren't ideal - there was a storm this week that probably left some fresh snow and now we're heading into a warming trend going into the weekend. So the odds of summiting probably aren't high, but I would like to give it a try after going through all the effort to get the permit. Worst case we get amazing mountain views, turn around, and go get tacos somewhere!

The route for this climb starts at Shannon Ridge and eventually goes up on the Suphide Glacer. The plan is to make a high camp on the glacier to enable an alpine start before things warm up too much. Then I'd like to climb up the SE Ridge route (easy class 5), with rope and pro. Descent is usually through rapelling down the class 3 gully. If the gully is still holding snow we likely won't attempt to summit. There have unfortunately not been any recent trip reports so we will be finding out the conditions as we go along. This is more of a 'see how things go' kind of outing. 

One more wrinkle is that I'm already in Washington for work and will be staying down over the weekend, so any participants will need to figure out carpooling on their own. Thinking of starting the hike in to camp early-ish on Saturday after camping out Friday night at the trailhead.
