BCMC are seeking two volunteers to help maintain our servers and website along with the two volunteers who are already doing so. Anyone who has experience in web development and/or system administration/dev-ops would be useful. The role would involve:
Periodically making security updates to our server.
Helping answer questions that come in to the web admin team and performing any admin functions to assist with that (a good example is sometimes users want to sign up from the U.S. and we need to manually allow registration from that user through some backend functionality)
If the volunteer has some development skills and interest then having some help to develop new features requested by our members and making bug fixes would be great.
The website is running on PHP 8.4, Laravel 12 and uses MySQL as the database. We also help maintain the BC Mountain Federation Site and Backcountry BC as well. We use Google workspace for general emails and document management.
Expected commitment would be around 5 hours per month.
