Trip Description

Watersprite Cabin – Roof & Stairs Planning Trip

This trip is to measure, estimate, and draw up plans for repairs to the cabin's roofing and stairs. Some hi ladder and hands-on repair work will also be done. If you have experience with carpentry, stair construction, or roofing, your help would be especially valuable — please bring gloves.

Good balance and comfort with heights on ladders are also assets for this trip. We'll be using climbing harnesses and ropes for safety while assessing the roof and reattaching the top roof panels.

Main Plan – Sunday, August 23rd
Hike in Sunday morning and stay overnight in the cabin while completing the planning work. The cabin stay is free that night — you'll just need a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and your own food (two propane Coleman stoves are available for cooking).

If you can't stay overnight, you're still welcome to hike in and help for the day on either Sunday or Monday.

Alternate Plan – Saturday, August 22nd
Hike in Saturday, stay overnight in a large tent on site (the cabin isn't available Saturday night), complete the necessary work, and hike out Sunday afternoon. This is only a backup option, for a few reasons.

Bad weather will force a cancellation.

Since this is the first step toward the full repairs, your help may also be needed on a future trip.

Please let me know if you're available for the Sunday trip, or the Saturday alternative.
