Heading up White Cross Mountain via Salal Creek FSR / Lillooet South over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The latest satellite imagery is looking promising — no obvious snow along the summit ridge, and the weather is looking pretty good for now.
The trip starts with a wide creek crossing Water levels are still looking pretty low with the recent dry weather, so hopefully that works in our favour. From there, it’s a fairly steep push uphill — about 950 m of elevation gain over 3.5 km — before breaking out into the alpine.
Once we're up high, the terrain looks undulating and open, with another ~200 m of gain spread over roughly 6.5 km to the summit. About 10 km total to the summit, with sunsets around 7:00.
The plan
Day 1:
Drive in and hike as far as possible toward the base of White Cross, ideally setting up camp relatively high so we're in a good position for the next day.
Day 2:
Summit then head over toward Bridge Glacier to poke around and explore some of the interesting landscape features in the area. There doesn't seem to be a ton of beta for this side of the range, so it should be a bit of an adventure and some good recon for a future Lillooet Icefield trip.
Day 3:
Pack up and hike back out.
