Where Did All Our "Regular Trips-On-Schedule Go?"
As for "classic" I would rather prefer using "core" word for such trips: as for the club that bears "mountaineering" in its name, core trips should be alpine and only alpine. The rest is optional. Ide...

List of Most Popular Trip Meeting Places
Great! Providing exact GPS cords and info on parking restrictions would be useful as well.  For example, there was recent dispute around St David's Church Parking Lot: http://bivouac.com/FtrPg.asp?Ftr...

Supporting and Retaining Instructors/ Leaders
Once again, thanks to Rob for bringing this up. I would suggest to view the issue from the opposite angle:  it could be easier to get the answer to the original question (what motivates volunteer inst...

Supporting and Retaining Instructors/ Leaders
Clarification to the post above (19.01.2016 09:20) Re: incentive a) "retentioned" funds were not meant to be paid out to the instructor in cash - this would be too vulgar (and like many others, I too...

Looking for Avalanche Transcievers
I have never had problems renting a beacon at MEC by reserving one in advance, yet another suggestion could be that two paid sessions can raise enough cash to get a new one. Even more general (and muc...

In the past, the club used to offer beacons for rent - I wonder what happened to that program.

Looking for Avalanche Transcievers
May I suggest to rent them at MEC and request the club for reimbursement. The session is paid and part (ideally all) of the proceeds should be used as intended - to support and promote its purpose.

Supporting and Retaining Instructors/ Leaders
For instructors only. Makng it simple. 1. Remove Access to the "Pro-Deal" memberships: this creates effect "More is Less", same reason for the items below. 2. Remove "Discounts on Guide- Led courses"...
Watersprite Lake Cabin - January 12th Meeting
Paul, that's pretty good! Thanks for the explanation! Adding that the WSL project vote was not actually required all is looking solid. And now I finally have a good idea how many people quit just afte...
Water sprite Hut Post-Mortem
Stas, WSL hut will actually serve your goal of preservation the nature - it will adsorb some crowds (and probably snowmobilers) there ("unattractive place" in your opinion) keeping them away from anot...
Water sprite Hut Post-Mortem

Water sprite Hut Post-Mortem
It looks that the real reason for the division (or anger, frustration, disappointment, cynicism, general distrust to management and eventually lost of interest and apathy) is not the new hut itself, b...
Watersprite Lake Cabin - January 12th Meeting
I am really neutral to the politics and passions around this (hot?) issue. I didn't attend the voting meeting, as other ~700 club members. However, my training in statistics got me really curios to ru...

1. I have always assumed that a BCMC trip organizer is already insured for liability everywhere (Canada, U.S. included). Can someone please clarify that? If not then it would a serious misunderstandin...
