The Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC is using a Mountain Equipment Co-op grant to fund a study of participation in outdoor recreation, in BC, outside of urban areas during the year 2012. This research aims to determine participation rates for non-motorized outdoor recreation activities and is being conducted by the Tourism and Recreation Research Group of the School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University.
As a member of one of the constituent clubs of the FMCBC, you are invited to participate in this study. Your participation is part of a larger project which also includes surveying a random sample of the BC population. The data that club members provide will be analyzed independent of the general sample to avoid biases, but will be used to help better understand participation rates in various outdoor activities and your expenses on these activities.
