I always wanted to try summit Slalok at Joffre lakes but never had a chance to do it. Last year I tried it and reached only Tszil cause weather was just awful. Luckily this time everything was right so Arthur, Ivan, and myself decided to give it a try. Plan was to get to camp site on Friday night and go early next day with light packs. We started at 8am and reached peak around 12.30 pm. Looks like Matt Gunn's 5-7 hour range from parking lot is quite reasonable. We were quite concern about crux near summit cause we decided not to take stuff for belaying. All of us managed to make even we had a problem with rout finding and last 10 meters went straight vertically. Right way to do it is to go right from bench and then left. After crux there is a sub peak with nice platform to take a brake. Rest of rout is quite dangerous and require extra caution. We got back to the lake at 5.30pm so in total we spent 9.30 hours for round trip. I expected less time but honestly, I've never tried to do 1250m of elevation in one day with this type of terrain.
