This unpublished gudebook by Earle Whipple is posted here with permission. The area covered includes the Coast Mountains (Coast Range) from southern B.C. to about the Nass River: essentiaily the region covered by Dick Culbert's 1965 Climber's Guide to the Coastal Ranges of British Columbia). It also includes what little is known about mountaineering in the Omineca Mountains and other ranges in the vast, little-visited region of north-central B.C.
The guide excludes Vancouver Island, the southern most part of the Coast Mountains that was covered by Bruce Fairley's 1986 Climbing and Hiking in Southwestern British Columbia and Don Serl's 2003 Waddington Guide. The guide is based on extensive literature searches, personal communications with many climbers, and personal observations. This version of the guide is dated April 20, 2023.
