Participant Information

"Why isn't this place a National Park?" we wondered as we fell under the spell of this breath-taking park. We didn't find the answer to that question, but the current status explains why the Tombstone Territorial Park, roughly 700 km north of Whitehorse along the Dempster highway to Inuvik, is still a relatively little known gem.

Hiking amongst the subarctic tundra surrounded by the jagged pinnacles of the Tombstone mountains on the skyline is a rare treat. And if you go near the end of August, you may be lucky to experience the spectacular neon palate of vivid autumn colours which create a stark contrast to the crisp clear Northern blue sky.  In this area you will find numerous crystal-clear lakes nestled below towering rocks, wildlife roaming the broad valleys, and the sharp ridges offer sweeping views while challenging scramblers and climbers.

We hope, through our photos, to convey some of this amazing experience to our audience ... Please join Linda Billy and Diana Diaconu on their account of this rarely-visited park.

Everyone is welcome... visitors, members and guests.  The meeting will take place at the Vancouver ANZA Club main floor (corner of 8th Ave and Ontario) on Tuesday October 8th, 2013. The entrance door opens shortly after 7pm and the meeting begins at 7:30pm.
