Participant Information

Trip has been re-scheduled several times due to unforeseen circumstances - trip is estimated to take 2-3 days, but a 4th day has been included in order to permit some flexibility - earliest start time is afternoon on Friday. Please answer trip-planning questions (on the left side of page).

This traverse route actually consists of two separate trails, plus a high country route by which they can be connected, so that the route is partly on trail, and partly not, while mostly up in the alpine. From north to south, this traverse starts at Tenquille Lake, then goes over the Mount Barbour complex, then past Mount Ronayne and finally out to the Owl Creek road.

We will need to be able to route-find and navigate in the mountains in the portion with no trail. Overall, the terrain is apparently not too complex, but the recent snowfalls in the alpine made add to the challenge.

We will also need to arrange to leave vehicles at both ends of the traverse. Access at the north end is via either of the Tenquille roads (off the Hurley or via Tenquille Creek), and at the south end via Owl Creek FSR. Four-by-four vehicles would be an asset.

This trip is probably not suitable for a beginner backpacker. Expect below freezing temperatures at night (if not during the daytime too).

Please update your BCMC Account Profile with your emergency contact information. To do that you have to login on the website, click the "My account" button at top right, then click on "edit profile information", then select the "private information" tab and enter your emergency contact information -- this info will stay in your profile and is made available to a trip organizer automatically -- it saves time at the meeting point.

N.B. If you have previously "bailed" less than a day before the start of, or been a "no show" for, one of the trip organizer's previous trips, you need not apply to join this one - you will not get a response.
