TRIP MOVED TO MONDAY FOR WEATHER REASONS
Early season turns in the northern Mt Baker area. See picture from Heliotrope in October last year . We will change our plans (and destination) to suit the snow conditions. Possible destinations include: Heliotrope Rdige, Skyline Divide, backside of the Baker ski area, Twin Lakes / Winchester Peak, Chowever Ridge. See the various Washington guides for details: Volken, Burgdorfer, Baldwin etc.
Please note the snow is not likely to be that good so bring gear to suit early season skiing. If the snow is rubbish trip will get cancelled.
ALL participants MUST have the following equipment:
Beacon, Probe & Shovel
AST-1 or higher training
AT/telemark ski or splitboard setup (including skins)
Headlamp
Appropriate clothing for being out in the elements all day
Enough food and water to remain on the move for most of the day
(trip organizer will carry the following items: first aid kit, GPS/Compass/Map)
This will involve a long day, with the potential for some objective dangers.
Please consider NOT seeking to join this trip unless you have conducted your own research into the route, and compared that with your own experience, fitness level and skill.
Please update your BCMC Account Profile with your emergency contact information. To do that you have to login on the website, click the "My account" button at top right, then click on "edit profile information", then select the "private information" tab and enter your emergency contact information -- this info will stay in your profile and is made available to a trip organizer automatically -- it saves time at the meeting point.
N.B. If you have previously "bailed" less than a day before the start of, or been a "no show" for, one of the trip organizer's previous trips, you need not apply to join this one - you will not get a response.
