Trip Planning Questions

Do you have your AST1 or a serious knowledge of avalanche assessment?

When did you last practice some companion rescue? When did you last read about avalanche safety and companion rescue? If it has been a while, will you refresh your memory by reading the AST1 booklet or the Avalanche Canada online tutorial (http://www.avalanche.ca/tutorial/) before the trip?

Do you have a 4WD vehicle? How many people could you take?

How many years of active ski touring do you have?

Can you skin up 400m elevation per hour ?

Friday is supposed to be a sunny day, what about going for some turns in the backcountry ?

The plan is to leave the city early to get there at sun rise and go either to brandywine mountain or metal dome depending on the weither and snow conditions.

Be ready to spend a full day outside ! (until night -> 4pm...)

***** What to bring:

- Beacon (check battery) , shovel, probe

- Headlamp.

- Clothes to stay in the snow the whole day

- Extra clothes and space blanket as safety

- Food and water

- A little first aid kit

- Map of the area.
