Trip Planning Questions

What is your snowcraft experience?

What is your winter camping experience? Do you have the gear to be comfortable in a snowshelter? Synthetic highly recommended.

What is your backcountry travel experience? Avalanche training?

Do you have a snow saw or other snowcraft equipment to bring? How about a good camera for awesome photos?

Will you be skiing/splitboarding? Snowshoers may be welcome if at least two of you come and you know the way

Do you have a car suitable for winter travel up to the ski resort and if yes, how many people are you willing to take with you?

UPDATE: the 27th looks like our trip start date

For those unfortunate enough to be stuck in this beautiful part of the world over the Christmas holidays, join me to head up a hill (Seymour or Cypress, TBC) and spend the night in a freshly built snow shelter. I tend to like snow caves more, but I'm open to any kind of structure.

I have built both caves and igloos before, although haven't had the chance to spend the whole night in them. I'm still a rookie snow craftsman. This trip will be excellent for those who want to brush up existing theoretical knowledge and practice their snow craft. I will provide notes with very useful information.

Turns possible depending on conditions.

Theoretical limit of 8 for the trip, although the more people come, the more shelters we will build and maybe do a little competition ;) Expect architectural finishes, candles/cosy lighting, warm wine and powerful statements with your structure.

I'm an amateur outdoor aficionado and this is in no way an instructional course: we will form a lovely team of people who share the same passion for the outdoors and practice all together and learn from each other. Join at your own risk.
