Trip Planning Questions

(1) What Backcountry ski trips have you done this year?

(2) When did you take AST-1 or equivalent (if you've taken an equivalent course, please name the course and country. E.g. AIARE Level 1, USA). My friend showed me how a beacon works is not an equivalent or substitute.

(3) What is the air speed velocity of an unladened swallow?

Participant Information

Plan is to ski up Mt Sproatt via the Rainbow Lake Trail that runs along Twentyone Mile Creek. Baldwin describes pleasant subalpine and alpine terrain. Navigation looks straightforward, but I've never been there before. Turn left at the first major drainage. How hard can that be? But for all I know we could end up sending all day looking for creek crossing points only to realize that we're in the wrong drainage. Forecast for this weekend calls for moderate snow this weekend, which may mean fog, low cloud cover and crappy visibility. Or it could be epic Skiing. Still interested?
