Trip Planning Questions

1) When did you complete your mountaineering/crevasse rescue course?

2) Do you have a rope we can use?

3) Do you have a car? If so, can you car pool & where will you be coming from? Also, how many people can you take?

4) How much do you weigh?

Participant Information

Please note: This is an informal practice session. This is NOT a course. Please sign up only if you are familiar with transferring the weight onto the anchor and what to do from there, as that will be our main focus.

The Plan: We will practice on Seymour's ski hills. I'd like us to do some roped travel. We'll have someone from our rope team fall and then we'll rescue that person. Let's do this a few times so people can practice being in different positions of the rope team. It would be great to make this as realistic as possible!

We will also practice self arresting. So bring clothing you don't mind sliding down a hill with!

Gear: Your typical mountaineering gear such as helmet, ice axe, crampons, harness, prussiks, pulleys, slings, locking/non-locking biners, picket, etc. Again, let's try to make it as realistic as possible!  And of course, we are heading into the mountains so bring your 10 essentials and whatever else you need for the day.

Please review haul systems & the rescue process before we actually meet to practice. This way it will be a more efficient practice session when it is fresh in everyone's mind. Check out FOTH Ch 17.

Meeting: TBD. We will use the planning forum to organize car pooling.

YAY!! Looking forward to practicing!! :)
