Participant Information

Easy to moderate (5.8-5.11) sport/mixed climbing at Cal-Cheak ***Rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday***

General Trip Plan:  This trip is for people with some experience in sport climbing top rope and sport lead. Only a few routes are mixed. Even those are mostly bolted with just a few cams needed for additional protection.
Each pair of climbers should have someone comfortable leading easy to moderate routes. We will decide the walls at Cal-Cheak based on how sunny and hot it is. We expect to spend at least some time at Huckleberry Land and Shelf Road.

Note that rock at Cal-Cheak is well textured and quite crimpy, even on easier routes.

Gear Requirements:  All participants must bring their own personal climbing gear... including: harness, belay device, locking biner, climbing shoes, and helmet (no helmet = no climbing).  Also highly recommended is a PAS (personal anchor system) for securing yourself, a prussic for safe rappelling, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks.

Where/When to Meet:  We'll meet early at 8:00 am at the St. David's Church parking lot located at Hwy 1 and Taylor Way, in West Vancouver.  Our plan will be to head back to Vancouver after the worst part of the weekend traffic.

Please self-organize car pooling to the church via the "Planning Forum" on top-left of this page.

Emergency Contact Info:  Please make sure your Emergency Contact info has been added to your web-account profile.  You can do this by logging into the bcmc.ca website, click on: My Account (top of page)... then click on Edit Emergency Contact (top-left column).  Please re-enter your password to complete the process.  Your emergency contact info is stored privately and only made available to those organizing trips you choose to attend.

Potential Medical Issues:  any info that should be shared with the organizer(s), please send an email and/or phone ASAP.  For example, if you are very allergic to bee/wasp bites, or you are taking medication that could be vital information to First Aid Responders.  Anything you choose to share with me will remain private.

Poor Weather Cancellation: Check the weather forecast for where we're going on the morning of the trip (Environment Canada - weatheroffice.gc.ca). If the forecast is 50% PoP or less then we'll go). Anything above 50% PoP oand the trip is automatically cancelled unless the trip organizer contacts the group to say otherwise. If cancelled, we will likely set up an indoor climbing event instead

Please make sure to answer all "Questions for Participants"
