Participant Information

Hi Everyone,

The plan is to attempt Rainbow Mountain from the Callaghan Resort Area. Baldwin book, page 102, via Hanging Lake trail. This is a long trip, 15km, 1430m elevation gain.

I've never done this trail before, but the approach looks fairly straight forward. This trip will go ahead only if we have good avalanche conditions and relatively clear weather. The plan is to summit, and then ski back down the way we came up to Callaghan Valley. The back-up plan if bad weather or avalanche conditions will be Puma S1, also accessed from the Callaghan area.

Please make sure you've done AST-1, and have a transceiver, shovel, probe as well as good endurance and experience backcountry skiing/boarding.
