Trip Planning Questions

1. Where did you train as a mountaineer? Have you completed a course that includes crevasse rescue?

2. Do you have a rope?

3. Do you have all required gear?

4. Do you have a preference for who you want to be on a rope team with?

Participant Information

This is not a course. This is a practice session for intermediate level mountaineers to prepare for the season. We will assist each other but will not have time to teach new skills. Only those with previous training will be moved to the confirmed list.

This is day 1 of a 2 day practice (link to day 2 here), but won't be an overnight trip. You can sign up to each day individually but preference will be given to those who sign up for both days. You are encouraged to work together with partners you plan to mountaineer with this season.

Day 1 Schedule

Morning: Crevasse rescue practice. Please review steps to transfer the load and set up haul systems.
Afternoon: Self arrest practice, both individually and on a rope team.

Gear list

Your standard setup for crevasse rescue, including:
Harness
Helmet
Mountaineering Boots
Ice Axe (General Mountaineering)
Picket(s)
Carabiners
Pulley(s)
Prussiks
Slings
Warm layers, outer shell, gloves, sunglasses etc

We'll be practicing self arrest later in the afternoon so we don't get too wet and cold. Strongly recommend you don't use your best hardshell layers for this portion.
