Participant Information

Informal get together to review search procedures as well as discuss finer (and just as important) points about avalanche rescue. I hope to spend a few minutes at the beginning talking about alternate search procedures, slalom probing, as well as the CAA's latest recommendations in shoveling procedures before we dive into the action.

Be sure to bring a headlamp. If there is little snow, the cover of darkness should provide a sufficient challenge.

There may or may not be enough snow on the ground to ski/skin. Skis are a decision you should make depending on how much you love your equipment; consider snowshoes or microspikes. If there is absolutely no snow, I will cancel the event and reschedule a few days in the future.

Meeting at Enquist Lodge @ Mt Seymour (49°21'44.7"N 122°57'01.7"W) at 5:30 PM. Wrap up at 7:30 ish. I don't anticipate us needing to spend more than 2 hours.

Note: This is not a course and I am not a professional guide; I am only a very junior member of the Canadian Avalanche Association who loves shreducation.
