Participant Information

Backcountry skiing from Highway 3 in Manning Park. We drive to Cayuse Flats and head up the logging road to Silverdaisy Pass. From there it a couple of kilometers to the summit. We may shortcut one of the upper switchbacks on the logging road to save about one km. See the kml file that is attached to the trip files.

Suitable trip for intermediate or better skiers. Fitness level must be reasonable but you don't need to be an ultra marathon runner. The one way trip is about 10 km with 1200 meters of elevation gain. Depending on the trail breaking and avalanche conditions, we may reach the summit. The forecast is for High avalanche conditions in the Alpine zone, which is about the upper 200 meters above Silverdaisy Pass.

Headlamp required and spare batteries. Avalanche beacons, shovels required. Bring warm clothes.

The meeting spot in Vancouver is the intersection of North Grandview and Penticton Street in East Van at 6:30 AM. Note that North Grandview is north of Grandview Highway across the railway and Skytrain tracks. If there's people coming from Coquitlam, we'll meet them at Crash Crawley's rock gym, 1300 Woolridge Street in Coquitlam at 6:50 to 7:00 AM. People from Surrey, we'll meet at the 160th Street park and ride at 7:10 to 7:20 AM. People from Abbotsford or Agassiz, we'll meet at the Tim Horton's in Sardis at the intersection of Vedder Road with Luckakuck Way, opposite the street from the Husky station at 7:45 to 8:00 AM.
