Ski to Watersprite Lake along the winter route. Assess avalanche conditions before starting up Dreadnought. The summit is just under 2000 meters and is 8 km with 1200 meters of elevation gain from the winter trailhead at KM 16. . Descend the west bowl to 1550 meters. Climb back up over Demon Ridge at 1750 meters. Descend back to the winter route or alternatively to the summer route. The summer route may be an interesting choice for descent offering additional vertical and potentially better skiing but leaving us 4 km from the winter trailhead. (The south face of Demon Ridge back to the winter route can be chunky with avalanche debris.)
Should be a full day, close to 8 hours.
Suitable trip for intermediate or better skiers. Fitness level must be reasonable but you don't need to be a marathon runner.
Headlamp required and spare batteries. Avalanche beacons, shovels required. Bring warm clothes. Ice axe optional. Ski crampons optional.
Bring cash to share in the transportation costs. No e-transfers, please. If people try to contact me, email is preferred. Don't send text messages. I don't receive them. There is a 4WD premium for drivers' cost reimbursement. I am suggesting per person cost of $20 carpooling from West Van. Costs are ultimately determined by the drivers. Cost may depend on number of persons per vehicle.
