Participant Information

Changes to the Samson and Delilah Summer Camp.

Please note that the summer camp will  be split into four separate options that should be posted by June 18.  This will allow us to meet COVID requirements while getting the maximum number of people out on trips.  When the new trips are posted, (there will be four options), please sign up for the new trips with the new leaders.  Don't remove yourself from this trip as I will continue to use this forum and email list to send out information which is needed for all four groups.  Please note that I have changed the date to allow everyone to be able to sign up for the other four options as  you can't book two trips with overlapping dates.   Again, this trip as currently listed is not happening, but will be replaced with four options which should appear on the schedule over the next few days.  If you are signed up for this trip, you need to choose one of the options when they are posted.  Each leader will put together the group based on responses to their questions and to some degree the order in which you are signed up on this list.  Please bare with us as we try to make things work for as many people  as we can.   Cheers  Brian

This spectacular area features high peaks, glaciers, flower-filled meadows, hiking, scrambling, and some fourth and fifth class climbing.  It can be done as a wilderness hiking camp or a mountaineering camp depending on your preferences.  We will fly into Ash Pass and camp in a beautiful meadow next to a lake.  From here it is possible to climb Mt. Thiassi, Ice Maker, and Pebble Peak.  All full-day trips or you can set your sites on less challenging peaks and enjoy the ridges, ice caves, and meadows.  After half a week spent in this location, we will spend the day hiking over to the North Creek cabin where a food and beer drop will have been left for us.  This avoids carrying heavy packs.  From the North Creek cabin, we can take trips to Mt Sessil, Sampson and Sugas to name a few, or again aim for the easier peaks and lakes and leave the climbing for others.  On the last day, we hike out from the North Creek cabin on the newly improved trail to pick up our cars in the valley below.  Dinners and breakfasts will be provided, participants will bring their own lunches and snacks.  Helicopter transport to Ash pass and a food drop at North Creek will be provided.  An option to hike in from Railroad pass and complete a traverse through to Athelney pass exists, as does an exit from Ash Pass to Athelney.  There are lots of options.  Anticipated costs for the Helicopter drop and food for the week is about $500.  Participants must be familiar with off-trail wilderness travel and navigation.  While it is possible to avoid glacier travel and climbing on this trip, we will be in an area with many glaciers and the opportunity for fun general mountaineering.
