Participant Information

Smith is an amazing place that I experienced for the first time last year and have been wanting to return. It is in Central Oregan so only sign up for this trip if you are prepared to travel long distances.

The plan is to leave at 7: a.m. Tuesday morning climb for three days and return to the lower mainland on June 27th. If you want to come for part of the time, that is fine too.

These are mainly sport routes but there will be top rope anchors set up. There is a decent mix of single and pitch climbs. All climbers should know both styles of belaying lead and top rope. Everyone should have their own personal gear and must be able to build and clean anchors. You will need your own camping gear, food, extra clothing, and if you have rope, please bring it.

Please remember to purchase travel/medical insurance that covers rock climbing and bring a valid passport.

Camping is on a first-come first-served basis and reservations are not allowed. The fee is $8.00 per day U.S.

Please see the attached link for more information. https://smithrock.com/campground-bivy

You can purchase any necessary food in Bend which is about 20 minutes outside the park.

Please use the planning forum for carpooling arrangements. I don't mind having a couple of climbers who are fairly new to the sport join but ultimately the plan is to have a higher ratio of experienced climbers. That being said everyone must have prior outdoor climbing experience and have taken some kind of anchor building course.
