Participant Information

We fly into the North Creek Hut on July 5.  Tent camping next to the hut is recommended to maintain social distance.  The priority on this trip will be to brush out trails to the alpine from the North Creek Hut.  The flight into and out of the area is paid for by the club, but the expectation is that we will brush out trails to the Boomerang Glacier, Sessel Glacier and Mt. Sugas, as well as the trail into the cabin.  Once the trails are in we can use them to access any of the peaks in the area including Sugas, Sessel, Sampson or Delilah. We will fly out on July 11.  Sampson and Delilah are class 4 scrambles and Sessel and Sugas are class 3.  One can also explore the meadows, glaciers and lakes in the area as wilderness hiking trips and avoid the technical ground.  The ability to run a chainsaw or operate a good set of loppers is an asset.  This is a good opportunity to explore a remote location, climb some peaks and get a good full body work out cutting alder.  For the peaks you should have glacier gear including crampons, ropes, harness, ice axe and helmet.  If you stick to the valleys, no technical gear is required, although ski poles and an ice axe would be a good idea.

Participants must be free of any COVID symptoms and have had no known contact with anyone who has had  COVID within the past two weeks.  You will be required to wear a mask in the helicopter and follow their strict protocols for COVID.  It would be expected that you will only car pool with people who are in your bubble.
