Participant Information

This course is taught by Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures by a professional ACMG certified guide. MSAA is offering a special price for BCMC members of $237.15 + GST (regular price for non-members: $279 + GST).

Course Details:

Wilderness First Aid is designed for individuals who work in remote regions outside the immediate range of emergency medical services. The course provides participants with an introduction to wilderness first aid, with an emphasis on prevention, practical skills, decision making and dealing with environmental conditions.


Course content is adapted in consultation with the client to reflect the reality of the client’s work environment. The program includes CPR/AED Heart Saver for the Lay Rescuer.



Patient assessment, shock, wound management, burns, fractures and sprains, environmental injuries, common medical problems, first aid kits.



Certification is valid for three years. To recertify this course, you must take another Wilderness First Aid (20 hours).


Important Information

Students must be at least 16 years old to participate in this course. Those under 19 years of age will require the written consent of a parent or guardian.

100% participation is required to pass this course.

Majority of the course is spent outdoors. Please be prepared for all weather conditions.

It is encouraged for your to bring your own first aid/guide’s pack, if you have one.



Day 1 – 8:30am to 5:30pm + 6pm-10pm


Day 2 - 8:30am to 5:30pm


Included: All teaching materials will be at no additional cost, Wilderness First Aid Field Guidebook, SOAP Notebook.


Not Included: Transportation, Food.

Students will receive the following books on this course:

  • Wilderness First Aid Field Guidebook

  • SOAP Notebook


For the practicum outdoor training, please prepare for any weather conditions.


Students can use their own outdoor gear so as to be familiar with the equipment that will be available to them in a real world first aid situation.


Things to bring:

  • Comfortable clothing

  • Weatherproof outerwear for the outdoors portion of the course. Please check the weather forecast each day and dress appropriately.

  • Lunch/Snacks/Water

  • Pen/pencil and notebook (recommended)

  • First Aid/Guide’s pack if you have one

Complete your payment directly with MSAA HERE  using the promo code. Be sure to select the right date in the drop down menu. You will receive a confirmation email from MSAA once your payment is completed.

(3) Forward your confirmation email to courses@bcmc.ca. You will then be added to the Confirmed List.
