Trail description:

  • Distance: 6.5km each way to the lake
  • Elevation Gain: 1,100m

Route / Itinerary:

  • Saturday morning: Squamish River Jet ride to trailhead (arrangements in progress) followed by 3-4 hours of slogging up the trail (it's more or less a straight shot from the Squamish River to the lake)
  • Saturday afternoon: exploration around the area as time permits
  • Sunday: Hike out late in the morning, and catch the boat back to Squamish
  • Possible bites and bevvies to follow

Note: I have lots of backcountry experience, but I haven't done this particular route before. That being said, I expect the trail to be steep and rugged. Would you do the Grouse Grind with an overnight pack? If not, then this may not be the trip for you.

Your can expect Shannon to keep you entertained with really terrible puns throughout the hike (trust me, it helps when the going gets tough). The lake also looks like a mighty fine reward for all your efforts as well.

Please bring:

  • Good hiking boots
  • Backcountry camping gear
  • Rope to hang your food with
  • 10 essentials

I'll have some basic safety items including bear spray, emergency kit and a Garmin InReach.
