Trip Planning Questions

You will need footwear and equipment suitable to a snow hike. Warm and waterproof clothes, sturdy boots, microspikes, headlight, food & drink, walking poles, and so on. (Snowshoes probably not useful.) We'll probably start hiking in midafternoon, to be on top by 4:00 PM.

The objective is to hike up the Stawamus Chief (Siám' Smánit), to see the sunset and moonrise on the night of the full moon nearest the winter solstice. It must be reasonably clear, so we can see the moon. Numbers and logistics subject to public health and BCMC requirements.
