This course is for BCMC members who are snowshoers, skiers or snowboarders wanting to learn to avoid avalanches, travel safely in the backcountry, and build their arsenal of mountain knowledge.
Base course Fee: $205 + GST (Special price for BCMC Members; CWMS Non-BCMC Fee: $275 + GST)
Possible extra cost for the lift access fee for Whistler/Blackcomb access.
Location: Mount Seymour**
**Note: in the event there is not adequate snow in mountains around Vancouver (most likely Mount Seymour), participants may be required to purchase backcountry access passes for Whistler.
Course Objectives:
The AST-1 Course is delivered over Saturday and Sunday (16 hours total). For more information on the course curriculum, click here
Notes:
- Cost does not include transportation to/from course areas, lift access fees (if applicable), or personal equipment except as noted
- You must supply your own snowshoe setup. If you do not have your own equipment, you can rent from MEC Vancouver or from other local mountain shops
- This course is for BCMC members only
On-line Registration process:
(1) Click “Join this trip” on the left hand side of the page. You will be added to the Waiting List
(2) Complete your payment directly with CWMS at the link shown on the left side of the page under "Course Online Payment". Make sure you select FEB 20-21. You will receive a confirmation email from CWMS once your payment is completed.
(3) Forward your confirmation email to courses@bcmc.ca. You will then be added to the Confirmed List
(4) Keep an eye on your email for further information
