Questions
How many years backcountry skiing experience do you have?
Are you capable of making your own decisions (tour planning, route finding, orientation in difficult conditions)?
Are you capable of rescuing someone?
Are you fit enough to ski 1,000-2,000 meters (elevation gain / day) at about 300-400 m/hour?
Do you have any additional safety equipment (GPS, inReach etc)?
You must login in order to sign up online for one of the BCMC Trips. If you don't have a BCMC membership account then please obtain one. If you'd prefer to learn more before joining then please join as a 30-day Guest member. Some trips are BCMC members only.
Do you want to go backcountry skiing on Roger’s Pass?
In general, I would choose conservative terrain - depending on the conditions.
To start, we could go the area around Balu Pass Trail. For instance, Grizzly.
Depending on the conditions, we can choose to ski any of the tours offered in the book (see below).
Other areas
I would be ok to move on to other areas if conditions happen to be bad at Roger’s Pass. For instance, Kootenay’s, or AB.
Timing
I am pretty flexible with respect to the dates. We could start in Sunday and stay for about one week.
The only day I cannot ski will be Wednesday.
Overnight
Motel / Guest Houses (e.g., in Revelstoke).
