Will you be joining us at the pub after climbing (yes, no, maybe so)?
You must login in order to sign up online for one of the BCMC Trips. If you don't have a BCMC membership account then please obtain one. If you'd prefer to learn more before joining then please join as a 30-day Guest member. Some trips are BCMC members only.
I was told by a fellow BCMC member that, many many years ago, a number of BCMC members felt that there was too much drinking and carousing in the club. They splintered off and formed the much more posh and elevated ACC Vancouver.
True story? Malicious lie? Who can say. But it is a story. And so, on a related subject, following this evening of climbing at the Hive Heights, you are welcome to join in on a get together at a nearby watering hole (the hip, dimly lit Narrow Lounge), likely at 7:00PM. Come on down and bring your tall tales.
New to BCMC? Need a climbing buddy?
Hive Heights (formally known as Cliffhanger) is an excellent indoor top rope and lead climbing gym. We will meet Wednesday evenings, from 5 to 7PM, for a delightful evening of climbing. If you are interested in joining in, FIRST make your reservation with Hive Heights. Booking yourself into this event does not guarantee that you can attend, as Hive Heights has occupancy limits (you know why) and this time slot gets scooped up quick. In fact, if you are even remotely interested in joining in, my suggestion would be to book the minute it becomes available, then decide later. When you are confirmed with Hive Heights, feel free to sign up for the event and let us know that you are coming. There may be other time slots to choose from, depending on the other illustrious leaders involved.
All abilities are welcome, the newish and the rusty are encouraged. This is not a climbing course, however, so if you are very new to climbing, consider a fabulous course offered from Hive Heights before taking this route. You should be able to easily pass the belay test with flying colours.
Booked yourself in? Pass the grade? Don't know nobody? Come find me: I wear a grey tank top, and I'll have a red and white ribbon tied on my harness. They might know me at the front desk. Come introduce yourself, and I'll do my best to hook you up with a partner. I am occasionally late, but I always show before 5:30. If I don't find anyone, I am typically on the autobelay routes.
Let's go climbing!
