Trip Planning Questions

1. Do you have a 4x4 vehicle? How many people can you take?

2. If I haven't skied with you before, please give me some background on your touring experience.

3. Please confirm that you did your own due diligence about the route and approach and you understand that certain snow conditions might stop us from summiting. If you are a peakbagger at any cost this trip is not for you.

Participant Information

Let's try this one again, as the long term forecast seems to be looking good:)

The departure time is very early, to avoid sleeping at the trailhead.

The flavor of the spring trip, as 2 other parties used the same approach recently.

An attempt at Snowspider via Twin One FSR.  I hope to drive to 900m, snowline starting at 1050m. If we are able to get that high, there will be about a 7km skin on the FSR to approach the hut.  Be prepared for a LONG day.  Hopefully, the return leg of the FSR can be skied relatively quickly.

Please be considerate and do NOT sign up unless you are 100% committed for the trip and you are at least an intermediate skier(can do black runs in any conditions, including trees and have done at least 10 trips in the past 2 years) in the Backcountry. If in doubt about your capabilities send me a message and we can talk about it:)

Will be moving at a moderate-fast pace. Not for slow people, sorry.

MUST have :

  • AST1 training
  • Shovel, probe and avi beacon
  • Food and water for the whole day
  • First aid kit!
  • Ski Helmet
  • Headlamp with spare batteries
  • Ski crampons!!

Elevation gain: around 1400m

Distance: 18km or so

Time required:8-10h
