We will spend Family Day weekend exploring the terrain around Watersprite Lake, from the comfort of the BCMC's own Watersprite Cabin. The terrain in the area varies from steep and exposed to mellower runs near the hut. Participants should have at least one year of backcountry skiing experience, be able to ski black diamond level runs in variable conditions.
Cabin information can be found here: https://recsites.bcmc.ca/index.php/reservations/watersprite-lake-cabin
Schedule as follows:
Before we go: Details such as carpooling, objectives, shared gear, shared meals (no obligation here, but we can cook together if the participants agree) will be discussed in the planning forum.
Friday: Meet at St. Davids United Church at 0700, carpool to Squamish and drive up the Mamquam FSR as far as possible. Skin up to hut and get settled. Decide on objectives for the weekend depending on conditions and group experience/fitness/stoke.
Saturday & Sunday: We will break into smaller groups and explore the area.
Monday: Pack up in the morning and ski out to the cars. Drive back to Vancouver.
The cost of the trip is $90 per person, 100% of which is going to cover the cost of the hut booking. This is payable on being confirmed to the trip list and is non-refundable. The trip will be cancelled only in the event of unsafe avalanche conditions or truly awful weather. Full refund only on cancellation of trip.
