I would like to setup a small team of around 3-4 people to do an exploratory ski traverse through the Ha-iltzuk Icefield over 10-12 days in May. There is an area of peaks I am particularly interested in as they may be unclimbed. I am very flexible on access/approach and the exact route selected, but there are a few key areas I would like to visit time allowing.
I figure skis will be the best option to cover ground this time of year, but the emphasis will be on touring and climbing summits where possible, rather than maximizing ski runs. Many of the summits in this area can be skiied up or simply climbed up via steep snow, but there may be some amount technical climbing involved for the area I'm interested in.
Access can be done via Whitesaddle Air, or potentially via float plane and we can get picked up from the icefield or potentially traverse out to an area that is cheaper to get retrieved from!
Have a look at the 2004 BC Mountaineering Journal (p. 133) if you're curious about this awesome looking area!

Cost will be dependent on which mode of transportation we choose but if we go with the heli option round trip you can expect approximately $1500 each if we have a full heli. I'm open to exploring more affordable options. We may be able to apply for an expedition grant as an option as well and reduce prices quite a bit.
