Let's introduce Manning Park and Overnight Hiking!

I managed to snag a reservation for 3 tent pads for 6 people, which is the maximum number of people we have, and it will require two people to a tent if everyone comes. I have an extra tent that can be borrowed if needed. I am sorry I couldn't get a Saturday night reservation, but that's the best I could do. So hopefully some of you will be able to be available/take the day off work on the Friday so we can have a group to go.

This trip will consist of a long drive to Manning Park, followed by a 5.5km hike in that can be quite challenging with a heavy pack, to arrive at the Buckhorn Campground. There are outhouses, bear cache and a water source. This time of the year, it will be chilly at night. No fires are allowed, as it is an alpine area, but you can bring a small portable stove. You will need to bring a water filter. Ideally, we drive starting at 10am, but I have made it out there leaving as late as noon, and still making it with a pinch of daylight.

• This is an "easy to turn back" option because of the out-and-back nature and car drive home. There are no shopping facilities at the park, so you will need to make sure you have everything with you.  
• Cell phone reception is varied, but likely not available.
• The route is relatively basic.
