Bugaboo Spire is in Bugaboo Provincial Park and is most climbers dream if not all. If you are one of them and feel you are ready to pull the trigger, please join me.
Camping at Applebee Dome itself is worth the drive, but hopefully the weather permits and all goes as planned.
* Equipment;
2x half ropes, 60m (or 2x single, 60m).
Crampons and Ice Axe are needed for descending onto Snowpatch-Bugs col. (we will carry them while climbing),
Trad racks, climbing shoes (comfortable pair for multi pitch), Approach shoes or mountaineering boots for approach and glacier crossing,
Headlamps with extra batteries.
Rocky Talkie, please get or borrow one.
* Camping equipment;
Sleeping bag and pad, 3-season or winter ratings required as it will be 2500m high.
Backcountry camping permit,10$ per night per person, and pay at Kain hut in an envelope.
* Parking and Hiking to Applebee CG
Most cars are wrapped with chicken wire, can be found in the lot, but best to bring a roll as July will be the busiest.
10-12 hours of drive from Vancouver to trailhead (including rest stops). 4.5-5 hours of hiking/scrambling to Applebee campground.
